The SVADA project has been designed to gather important data about the role of artists and design professionals-as-professors in the academy. Visual arts higher education has been generally under-researched and empirical data are necessary
to better understand how artists and designers enter the professoriate. The project's goal is to explore this topic and provide educators and social scientists with a better understanding of the processes by which academic careers in the visual arts commence.
